Dhanbad ( Jharkhand) : A complete Bandh was observed on March 23, 2017, in Dhanbad to protest the killing of former Deputy Mayor Niraj Singh who was shot dead along with his three other men on March 21 late evening at Saraidhela steel gate, Dhanbad. The four attackers riding two motorcycles escaped without being challenged, which was witnessed by a scooter driving young lady who also saw the killers.
Meanwhile, an FIR was lodged by Abhishekh Singh alias Guddu Singh, younger brother of deceased Niraj Singh, with Saradhela police station against Jharia BJP MLA Sanjiv Singh, his younger brother Siddharth Gautam (both first cousins) besides three other henchmen of the BJP MLA named Gaya Singh, Jainendra Singh alias Pintu and Mahant Pandey.
In a police statement recorded recorded by DSP D N Banka and OC of Saradhela police station Arvind Singh late March 22 night at Raghukul, residence of Niraj, Abhishekh Singh stated that he was standing near Kolakusma quite close to his house when one of his colleagues Aditya Raj called him on mobile phone to state that his brother Niraj was attacked near Steel gate. “ I started running towards Steel gate which is hardly 100 metres from where I was standing and saw that Jainendra Singh was driving a motorcycle on which Sanjiv Singh was seated behind with an automatic weapon which was half covered by a towel and on direction of Sanjiv the firing was made,” Abhishekh said. While escaping, Sanjiv told me,” Your brother has been killed now it was your turn to be killed.” After which Sanjiv and his men escaped, Abhisekh told police.
Meanwhile, three police teams are working round the clock to clear the mystery behind the gruesome murder of Niraj which includes one headed by ADG CID Ajay Singh along with CID SP Narendra Kumar Singh and three other chosen cops of Ranchi who are camping in Dhanbad. Besides this, Coal belt DIG Saket Singh is monitoring another team of chosen cops which includes Dhanbad rural SP H P Janardan, Dhanbad DSP D N Banka and another DSP Mukesh Mahto while Dhanbad SSP Manoj Ratan Chauthe and his men are also working on their own information.
But as per report all the three teams are working in tandem and sharing vital information in this case as Dhanbad cops are in touch with Bihar police and Balia (UP) police also to seek information about few criminals of these states. Coal belt DIG Saket Singh said that all the three teams are cooperating with each other to crack this murder mystery in which all angles are being looked into including business rivalry, family rivalry and political rivalry. Speaking on police failure to nab the criminals who escaped unchallenged and are still traceless, the DIG said that this was also being looked into besides security angles of the city.
