Ara : An FIR has been lodged with Koelwar police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar against 60 persons including 25 named persons in connection with a twin murder case. Police have arrested two persons in this connection so far and are also conducting raids to arrest others though the key accused are still at large.

Two persons Durgesh, 34, of Belbhara village under Maharajganj PS in Kamhariya Kala District in Uttar Pradesh, and Sanjeet Kumar, 40, of Naubatpur under the same police station in Patna District, were shot dead in an exchange of firing at Kamaluchak Rajpur diara area ( riverine belt) sand ghat under Koelwar PS on January 21, 2022. Durgesh was an employee of Mannapuram Bank near Judge Kothi under Nawada PS, Ara, while Sanjeet Kumar, a Munshi, lived in a rented house at Ramnagar Chandawa Housing Colony under Nawada PS.

Kameshwar Rai along with his friends and acquaintances had organised a Puja before inauguration of new sand ghat at Kamaluchak under Koelwar PS on January 21, 2022,  when around 50 persons reached there and fired indiscriminately in which two persons were killed on the spot.

Bhojpur SP admitted said that police would leave no stone unturned to take stern action against the miscreants. He said that clash between Satyendra Pandey and Videshi Rai groups was going on for quite long time for supremacy over snad ghats and illegal mining of sand in the area. At present, Santyendra Pandey is in Ara jail at present, the SP added.

It may be mentioned here that clash between rival groups is common in Bindagawa, Kamaluchak, Rajapur, Pachrukhia, Mahadevchak, Semaria areas on the bank of river Sone under Koelwar and Barhara police stations in Bhojpur District over sand mining.
