New Delhi : Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, has granted a financial assistance of Rs 5 crore from the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) to Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust (ABFT) to purchase certain state-of-the-art sports science equipment to establish and operate a high-performance facility for rehabilitation, fitness-training and sports science centre at  Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence, Bengaluru.

It will be named as the “Sports Authority of India (SAI)-Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance Centre”. Indian athletes selected for training at Indian National Camps shall utilise the equipment and services at the centre free of cost. An agreement to this effect was signed here on September 8, 2017, between SAI and ABFT represented by DDG SAI Sandip Pradhan and Abhinav Bindra in the presence of the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports Col Rajyavardhan Rathore (Retd.) and Secretary (Sports) and DG, SAI, Injeti Srinivas, according to a PIB release.
