Patna : Five-time champion and World No 3 Roger Federer, 38, Switzerland, stormed into the 4th round of US Open at New York City, New York, USA, on August 30, 2019, night, demolishing World No 58 Dan Evans, 29, UK, in a one-sided match. Federer crushed Evans 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 in 3rd round firing 10 Aces in the match besides winning 5 games in a row.

Federer won 7 break points in the match to just 1 by Evans, who committed 4 double faults. The Swiss star, who won his 5th US Open singles title in 2008, won 47 service points in the match to 27 by Evans.

But, World No 38 Alex de Minaur, 20, Australia, stunned World No 7 and 2014 finalist Kei Nishikori, 29, Japan, to enter the 4th round of the tournament causing a major upset. Minaur beat Nishikori 6-2, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 in third round. Minaur won 8 break points in the match to 5 by Nishikori. He also won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Nishikori. The Australian fired 5 Aces in the match to 3 by the Japanese.

Meanwhile, 2014 champion and World No 23 Marin Cilic, 30, Croatia,  has entered the 3rd round beating World No 256 Cedrik-Marcel Stebe, 28, Germany, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 in 2nd round.
