Patna : Eight-time champion and 2nd seed Roger Federer, Switzerland, beat World No 169 Jay Clarke, 20, UK, in straight sets to enter the 3rd round of Wimbledon Championships, London. Federer beat Clarke 6-1, 7-6, 6-2 in the 2nd round on July 4, 2019. Federer broke Clarke’s service four-times in the match besides winning 5 games in  a row in the match. Federer, winner of 20 Grand Slam titles, also hammered 10 Aces in the match to just 1 by Clarke.

World No 2 and 3rd seed Rafael Nadal, who had won the Wimbledon singles title in 2008 and 2010, is locked in a tough contest in his second round match against World No 43 Nick Kyrgios, Australia, leading two sets to one. Nadal won the first set 6-3 while Kyrgios won the second set 6-3. Nadal stormed back to take the 3rd set 7-6.  In the 4th set, both the players have won 2 games each. Kyrgios has so far fired 20 Aces in the match to 7 by Nadal.
