Patna : World No 2 in ATP rankings and top seed Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, lifted the Stuttgart Open singles title defeating World No 35 and 7th seed Milos Raonic, 27, Canada, in the final on June 17, 2018. Federer beat Raonic in straight sets  6-4, 7-6 to win the singles title. He had lost in the first roundof Stuttgart Open, a ATP world tour 250 grass court event held in Germany, in 2017.

Although Federer won in straight sets, Raonic gave him a tough run in the match taking the secondset to tie-break. Raonic hammered 14 Aces in the match while Federer fired just 4 Aces. But, Raonic also committed  three double faults to none by Federer.

With this win, Federer will replace Rafael Nadal, 32, Spain, as the World No 1 in the next ATP rankings to be released on June 18, 2018. Nadal had alead of just 100 points over Federer. Federer won 250 points by winning the Stuttgart Open taking a lead over Nadal.
