Patna : Six time former champion and World No 3 Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, beat World No 6 Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, 6-4, 6-3 in a Group (lleyton Hewitt Group) Stage match in the Nitto ATP Finals in London, UK, on November 16, 2018, sealing a semi-finals berth in the tournament.
Anderson though fired 10 Aces in the match to just 3 by Federer, the winner of 20 Grand Slam singles titles. Federer, however, won 4 break points to just 1 by Anderson. His winning percentage on second serve was 65 % compared to 35 % of Anderson. His winning percentage on first serve ( 79%) was also slightly better than that of Anderson ( 73%). Federer now leads Anderson 5-1 head to head.
Federer had lost his first Group Stage match to World No 9 Kei Nishikori but bounced back to win the next two against World No 8 Dominic Thiem and World No 6 Kevin Anderson. Anderson has also booked a semi-finals berth by winning 2 of his three Group Stage matches.
