Ara : Hundreds of farmers blocked Ara-Chhapra main road and also stopped construction work of four- lane on May 29, 2018, in protest against non-payment of compensation for their land acquired for the purpose. They said even the rate of compensation had not been fixed so far. The protesters paralysed movement of vehicles and raised slogans against Bhojpur district administration and the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation.

Farmers Arvind Kumar Singh and Md Rashid said that at the instance of Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar, at least 49 farmers had given their 67 plots for construction of Ara-Chhapra four lane at Koelwar with an assurance of adequate compensation for the acquisition of land for construction of four lane. But the district administration was yet to  fix the rate of compensation, they claimed.

The district administration and Bridge Construction Corporation has started work on construction of four lane without giving compensation, the farmer said adding they were feeling cheated.
