Ara : Two bike borne two armed miscreants shot dead a farmer at village Itaura under Charpokhari police station in Bhojpur district on April 10, 2019, late evening, when he was returning home from the market. The deceased was identified as Baban Singh, 55, son of late Ram Kripal Singh of Itaura village. He was an eyewitness in the murder of his younger brother.

Police had to face a people’s ire when they went there to take custody of the body. The villagers attacked police force in which at least four police personnel were injured. The injured police personnel were admitted to a private nursing home. A named FIR has been lodged with Charpokhari police station but no arrest has so far been made in this regard. Tension prevails in and around the area following the incident.

SHO, Charpokhari police station, said that Baban Singh had gone to take milk at the counter of Sudha Dairy on April 10, 2019,  late evening. When he was returning, two motorcycle borne armed miscreants shot him dead. Old enmity is said to be the cause behind the incident.

Lalan Singh, elder brother of the deceased, said that the miscreants had killed one of his younger brothers Binod Singh on July 7, 2018, and Baban Singh was the main witness in the case. He said that Baban Singh had to appear in the court as main witness on April 16, 2019. He said that the miscreants had threatened him with dire consequences if he dared appear before  the court on April 16 as witness.

The SHO further said that police rushed to the spot but some anti-social elements attacked and injured four personnel. He said that police were investigating into the matter and added that the miscreants would be arrested very soon.
