Ara : Family members and acquaintances went on rampage and also misbehaved with the doctors and para-medical staff at Ara Sadar Hospital in Bhojpur District in South Bihar around midnight on April 23, 2021, after the death of a female patient during treatment. Fear stricken doctors and para-medical staffs escaped from the hospital as a result of which the emergency services at the Sadar Hospital remained paralysed till 8 am on April 24, 2021. Patents from remote places returned without treatment. Serious patients particularly Covid-19 infected persons had to go without treatment as most of the private clinics too remained closed. The doctors have demanded security to discharge their duty without fear.
Ram Kumar Singh of village Devparsar under Godari police station in Rohtas district who lives in a rented house at Gausganj under Ara Town police station (PS) had got his wife Arati Devi admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital on April 23, 202, late evening, after her condition further deteriorated but the doctors, as he alleged did not examine his wife and a nurse in the emergency administered an injection and her condition improved. But as she administered second injection, Arti Devi’s condition deteriorated and her body became black and she breathed her last during treatment. After her death, her family members and acquaintances were furious and went on rampage. They misbehaved with the doctors and para-medical staffs and damaged hospital properties. Fear stricken doctors and para-medical staff escaped from the hospital. On getting information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Ram Kumar Singh said his wife Arti Devi was undergoing treatment for the last two days at a private nursing home and he admitted her to Ara Sadar Hospital after her condition deteriorated. He held the doctors and para-medical staff responsible for the death of his wife alleging they neglected their duty.
Meanwhile, Dr Naresh Prasad, Secretary, BASA, Bhojpur Chapter, said that doctors and para-medical staff are doing their best risking their lives during Covid-19 pandemic but neither the district administration nor hospital management provided security to them and in this situation, doctors and paramedical staff are feeling unsafe and are reluctant to perform their duty. He said that administrative officers, officials of Health Committee, Superintendent, Ara Sadar Hospital, and Health Manager are working from their chambers but now it would not continue. He demanded security and presence of Health Manager on hospital campus.
Superintendent Incharge, Ara Sadar Hospital, Praveen Kumar Sinha, said that some doctors of Ara Sadar Hospital are absent from their duty showing fake Covid-19 corona report or CT Scan report while only RPCR test is authentic for coronavirus. He said that as Coronavirus is raging in the district, the doctors must be present at hospital.He said if reports are found fake, disciplinary action would be taken against the doctors or paramedical staff concerned.
