Ara : Family members and large number of acquaintances blocked Ara-Sinha main road near Sariaya under Krishnagarh police station in Bhojpur District for about three hours on December 30, 2019, with the body of the slain businessman Sriman Narayan Gupta, 24. They burnt tyres on road and paralysed movement of vehicles raising logans against the district administration and demanded arrest of miscreants and compensation to the next of kin of the deceased. They also demanded security for the family members of the deceased. The blockade was lifted after positive assurance from senior officials.
It may be mentioned here that bike borne miscreants had shot dead Sriman Narayan Gupta, son of late Ram Kumar Gupta, at Nathmalpur Bazaar under Barhara police station on December 29, 2019, when he was at his cloth shop. After murder, the miscreants called Om Narayan Gupta, elder brother of the deceased, and demanded Rs 1 lakh as extortion amount ( Rangdari) with a threat to set ablaze his shop if he did not yield to their demand. A named FIR was lodged with Barhara police station against Nityanand Singh, his brother Ravi Singh, and three unknown persons on the statement of Om Narayan Gupta.
SHO, Barhara police station, Awadhesh Kumar, quoting the FIR, said that Sriman Narayan Gupta and Om Prakash Gupta, sons of late Ram Kumar Gupta of Nathmalpur village under Barhara police station, were at their shop at Nathmalpur Bazaar at about 8.30 am on December 29, 2019, when Nityanand Singh along with his brother Ravi Singh and three others reached the shop on motorcycles and fired on Sriman Narayan Gupta and escaped. The SHO further said that Om Prakash Gupta rushed his injured brother Sriman Narayan Gupta to Ara Sadar Hospital when Nityanand Singh called him and demanded Rs 1 lakh as Rangdari with a threat to kill him and also set ablaze his shop if he did not yield to his demand.The SHO stated that police are investigating into the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the miscreants.
