Patna: After arrest of an excise sub-inspector Deepak Kumar by Nalanda district administration last week, officials of the Excise department have adopted a cold approach to excise related offences. Deepak was arrested on charges of fabricating a case of recovery of liquor bottles from a JD(U) office bearer last week. The administration had detained the district excise superintendent for entire evening following orders from Nalanda DM who ordered arrest of SI of excise.
Excise minister Abdul Ghafoor on Monday said the charges against the excise officials were being investigated and hoped court will give relief to the arrested SI. Official spokesman of Excise and prohibition department OP Mandal too said on Monday the arrested officer was executing the government orders. K K Pathak, Principal Secretary, Excise department, too wrote a letter to DM of Nalanda suggesting the SI was innocent  and had discharged his official duties fairly.
