Excise Inspector, ASI held in Saharsa for helping liquor smugglers, Excise Suptd. absconding

Saharsa : Police on January 14, 2020, lodged an FIR against Excise Superintendent, Saharsa, Mohd Ashraf Jamal, Excise Inspector, Excise Mohd Faiyyaz Ahmad, Assistant SI, Excise,  Birendra Kumar Pathak, and other Excise personnel  with Sadar Police Station, Sahara, for allegedly conniving with the liquor smugglers. Police on January 15 arrested Excise Inspector Mohd Faiyyaz Ahmad and ASI Pathak while Excise Superintendent Mohd Ashraf Jamal is evading arrest and is absconding. Police are searching for him.

The FIR was lodged by Inspector cum SHO, Sadar Police Station, Saharsa, Rajmani. Police. The matter relates to seizure of huge quantity of foreign liquor from a place near Dumrail Chowk in Saharsa District on October 13, 2019, by an  Excise Team headed by Superintendent Mohd Ashraf Jamal, and comprising Excise Inspwctor Mohd Faiyyaz Ahmad, ASI Birendra Kumar Pathak, and other Excise personnel. Police have charged them with accepting bribe from the liquor smugglers to save them.
