Patna : World No 33 Daniel Evans, 30, UK, who had stunned top seed & World No 1 Novak Djokovic, Serbia, in Round of 16 on April 15, 2021, upset 11th seed David Goffin, 30, Belgium, in a three-set battle in quarter-finals on April 16, 2021, to advance to the semi-finals of Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, a clay court event, at Monte Carlo, Monaco. It will be his first semi-finals appearance at an AT Masters event.
Evans beat World N0 15 David Goffin 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in quarter-finals in 2hrs 42 minutes rallying back from one set down. Evans won 4 break points during the match to 2 by the Belgian. Evans, in all, won 114 points during the match to 104 points by Goffin. The Belgin, however, won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Evans. Goffin also fired 3 Aces in the match.
4th Seed Stefano Tsitsipas, 22, Greece, also advanced to the SFs of the event by walkover as his quarter-finals opponent Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 21, Spain, the World No 58, retired before the second set. Tsitsipas had won the first set 7-5.
