Patna : Opting to bat after winning the toss, England scored 305/8 in 50 overs against New Zealand (NZ) in the 41st match of CWC at Riverside Ground, Chester-le Street, UK, on July 3, 2019, with opener Jonny Bairstow scoring 106 in 99 balls hitting 15 fours and a six, his 2nd century in the tournament, and his opening partner Jason Roy scoring 60 in 61 balls with 8 fours.

Bairstow and Roy added 123 runs for the first wicket but the middle order batsmen failed to capitalise on it. Captain Eoin Morgan scored 42 in 40 balls with 5 fours while Joe Root made 24 in 25 balls with just 1 four. Jos Buttler (wk) and all-rounder Ben Stokes scored 11 each. Fast bowler Liam Plunkett remained unbeaten on 15 while spinner Adil Rashid fell to fast bowler Tim Southee for 16. Root on July 3 completed 500 runs in the tournament.

For NZ, Trent Boult, James Neesham, and Matt Henry took 2 wickets each while Mitchell Santner and Southee took one wicket each.
