Patna : England were all out for 294 in 87.1 overs in their first innings in the first hour of the play on Day 2 of the 5th Ashes Test against Australia at Kennington Oval, London, on September 13, 2019, with Mitchell Marsh taking 5/46 in 18.2 overs while fellow fast bowler Pat Cummins took 3/84 in 25.5 overs. Josh Hazlewood took 2/76 in 21 overs.

Resuming at their overnight score of 271/8, England added 23 runs to their score losing the wickets of Jos Buttler and spinner Jack Leach. Buttler fell to Pat Commins for 70 in 98 balls hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes making it 294/9 while Jack Leach fell to Mitchell Marsh for 21 in 43 balls with 3 fours at the same score. Buttler and Leach added 68 runs for the 9th wicket.
