Patna : England scored a challenging 166/4 in 20 overs against New Zealand (NZ) in the first semi-final of ICC T20 World Cup at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE, on November 10, 2021, night, as all-rounder Moeen Ali scored an unbeaten 51 runs in 37 balls hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes, one each of spinner Ish Sodhi and fast bowler Adam Milne.

England scored 56 runs in last 5 overs losing two wickets.  Dawid Malan scored 41 runs in 30 balls hitting 4 fours and 1 six. Moeen Ali and Malan added 63 runs in 43 balls for 3rd wicket.

NZ won the toss and opted bowl. Batting first, England openers Jos Buttler (wk) and Jonny Bairstow added 37 runs for the first wicket.  Bairstow fell to fast bowler Adam Milne for 13. Buttler fell to spinner Ish Sodhi for 29 in 24 balls with 4 fours and it was 53/2. Malan fell to Tim Southee for 41 making it 116/3. Liam Livingstone fell to medium fast bowler James Neesham for 17 in 10 balls hitting 1 four and 1 six making it 156/4 after 19.2 overs.
