Patna : Set a massive target of 462 runs, Sri Lanka (SL) were 15/0 in their second innings at stumps on day 3 of the first test against England at Galle International Stadium, Galle, Sri Lanka, on November 8, 2018. With two days still left to the play, Sri Lanka face a massive challenge to either win or at least draw the match.

England had earlier declared their second innings at 322/6 riding on an unbeaten 146 in 280 balls with 9 fours by opener Keaton Jennings and 62 in 93 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes by all-rounder Ben Stokes. Captain Joe fell to spinner Rangana Herath for 3 while Jos Buttler fell to Herath for 35. Wicketkeeper Ben Foakes, who had scored 107 in the first innings on debut, scored 37 in the second innings. Opener Rory Burns, who had scored 9 in the first innings, was run out for 23 in the second innings while Moeen Ali made 3. Jennings and Stokes added 107 runs for the 4th wicket.

England were all out for 342 in their first innings while Sri Lanka scored 203 in their first innings.
