Patna : England beat Sri Lanka by 57 in the 2nd cricket test on November 18, 2018, at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele, Sri Lanka, riding on brilliant display of spin bowling by Jack Leach, Moeen Ali, and Adil Rashid. England have now taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match test series. England had won the first test at Galle, Sri Lanka, by 211 runs. The third test will start on November 23, 2018.

Chasing a target of 301, Sri Lanka, who had scored 336 in the first innings, were all out for 243 in 74 overs in their second innings in the first session of the play on fifth day of the match on November 18 with Jack Leach taking 5/83 and Moeen Ali 4/72. Adil Rashid took 1/52. Resuming at their overnight score of 226/7, Sri Lanka lost their last three wickets for just 17 runs.

Captain Joe Root was declared Player of the Match for scoring 124, his 15th test ton, in England’s 2nd innings. Jack Leach took 8 wickets in the match while Moeen Ali took six wickets. Adil Rashid took four wickets in the match. England had made 290 in their first innings and 346 in the second. Sri Lanka captain Suranga Lakmal could take just one wicket in the match.
