Patna : England beat New Zealand (NZ) in Super Over to win the 5th T20I at Eden Park, Auckland, New Zealand, on November 10, 2019, and also winning the five-match series 3-2. The match was almost a repeat of ODI World Cup final between the two teams a few months back. In a match reduced to 11 overs each side due to rain, both the team had scored 146 each in 11 overs. England had won the toss but opted to bowl. England wicket-keeper Jonny Baistow was declared Player of the Match while NZ spinner Mitchell Santner was declared  Player of the Series.

Batting first, NZ scored 146/5 in 11 overs with openers Martin Guptil and Colin Munro adding 83 runs for the first wicket. Guptil fell to spinner Adil Rashid for 50 in 20 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes. All-rounder Colin de Grandhomme fell to Shaqib Mahmood for 6 making it 93/2 in 6.4 overs. Munro fell to Sam Curran for 46 in 21 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes and it was 120/3 in 9.1 overs. Tim Seifert (wk) fell to Tom Curran for 39 in 16 balls with 1 four and 5 sixes making it 143/4 in 10.3 overs. Ross Taylor was run out for 3.

In reply, England made 146/7 in 11 overs with openers Tom Banton and Jonny Bairstow scoring 7 and 47 runs respectively. Banton fell to Trent Boult for 7 making it 8/1. James Vince fell to Tim Southee for 1 and it was 9/2 in 1.1 over. Captain Eoin Morgan fell to Boult for 17 in 7 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes and it was 39/3. Bairstow fell to James Neesham and it was 100/4. Sam Curran fell to spinner Mitchell Santner for 24 in 11 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes making it 101/5 in 7 overs. Chris Jordan remained 12 not out in 3 balls with a six and a four while Sam Billings remained unbeaten on 11 in 10 balls with 1 four. Tom Curran fell to Neesham for 12 with a six.

England batsmen Jonny Bairstow and Eoin Morgan scored 17 runs in the Super Over and then restricted NZ to just 8/1.
