Patna : England were all out for 374 runs on Day 3 in their first innings against Australia in the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, with opener Rory Joseph Burns scoring 133 in 312 balls hitting 17 fours, captain Joe Root scoring 57, all-rounder Ben Stokes 50, and Stuart Broad 29. All-rounder Chris Woakes remained unbeaten on 37 in 95 balls with a four and a six. Australia, who scored 284 in their first innings, were 15/1 in the third session of the play with opener David Warner getting out for 8 to fast bowler Stuart Broad.
Resuming at 267/4, England lost their fifth wicket at 282 when Ben Stokes fell to fast bowler Pat Cummins for 50. Burns and Stokes added 88 runs for the fifth wicket. Burns fell to spinner Nathan Lyon when the score was 296. Moeen Ali also fell to Lyon for Zero. Jonny Bairstow fell to fast bowler Peter Siddle for 8 making it 300/8. Woakes and Broad added 65 runs for the 9th wicket.
For Australia, Pat Cummins took three wickets each while fast bowlers James Pattinson and Peter Siddle took two wickets each.
