Patna : England were 39/2 in 18 overs at stumps on Day 2 in their first innings in 2nd test against New Zealand (NZ) at Seddon Park, Hamilton, New Zealand, on November 30, 2019, with opener Rory Burns unbeaten on 24 in 51 balls hitting 4 fours and captain Joe Root batting on 6. Opener Dominic Sibley fell to Tim Southee for 4 with team score on 11. Joe Denly fell to Matt Henry for 4 making it 24/2. England trail by 336 runs. England had won the toss and opted to bowl. NZ lead the two-match test series 1-0.

Earlier resuming at their overnight score of 173/3, New Zealand were all out for 375 in 129.1 overs on Day 2 with Tom Latham scoring 105, his 11th test century and 5th ton in his last 10 innings, batting all-rounder Daryl Mitchell scoring 73, and B J Watling (wk) scoring 55. Latham fell to fast bowler Stuart Broad making it 182/4. Henry Nicholls fell to pacer Sam Curran for 16 and it was 191/5. Watling and MItchell added 124 runs for the 6th wicket. Watling fell to Broad making it 315/6. Mitchell also fell to Broad making it 330/7. Tim Southee fell to Chris Woakes for 18 making it 357/8. Spinner Mitchell Santner fell to fast bowler Jofra Archer for 23 and it was 375/9. Fast bowler Neil Wagner fell to Sam Curran for a duck.

For England, Stuard Broad took 4/73 in 28 overs while Chris Woakes took 3/83 in 31 overs. Sam Curran took 2/63 in 23.1 overs while Jofra Archer took 1/73 in 28 overs.
