Patna : England were 231/4 in 83 overs at stumps on day 1 in their first innings in the 3rd test against West Indies (WI) at Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, on February 9, 2019, with Jos Buttler unbeaten on 67 in 123 balls with 9 fours and all-rounder Ben Stokes batting on 62 in 130 balls with 6 fours. Buttler and Stokes have so far added 124 runs for the 5th wicket. West Indies won the toss but opted to bowl.

Batting first, England lost their lost their first wicket at 30 when opener Keaton Jennings fell to fast bowler Keemo Paul for 8. His opening partner Rory Burns also fell to Keemo Paul, 20, for 29 making it 69/2. Joe Denly fell to fast bowler Shannon Gabriel for 20 making it 69/3. England captain Joe Root fell to fast bowler Alzarri Joseph for 15 when the score was 107.
