Patna : England, who were bowled out for just 85 in their first innings in the first session of the play on day1, were 225/6 in 61.2 overs in their second innings on July 25, 2019, in the one-off test against Ireland at Lord’s, London, with spinner Matthew Jack Leach better known as Jack Leach, 28, who came as night watchman to open the second innings on July 24, scoring 92 in 162 balls hitting 16 fours and Jason Roy scoring 72 in 78 balls with 10 fours and a six. Leach had scored 55 runs in his first four tests. England lead by 97 runs.
Leach, playing his 5th test, and Roy added 156 runs for the second wicket. Leach fell to fast bowler Tim Murtagh while his opening partner Rory Burns fell to fast bowler Boyd Rankin for 6. Roy fell to Stuart Thompson while Joe Denly was run out for 10. Jonny Bairstow fell to fast bowler Mark Adair for a duck. Moeen Ali fell to Rankin for 9. Captain Joe Root isĀ batting on 25.
Ireland had scored 207 in their first innings on July 24, 2019.
