Patna : England were 132/3 in 46.5 overs at stumps on day four of the first cricket test, a day night test, against New Zealand on March 25, 2018, at Eden Park, Auckland, New Zealand, with opener Mark Stoneman scoring 55 in 91 balls and Captain Joe Root making 51 in 131 balls.

Former Captain and opener Alastair Cook was out for only 2. Dawid Malan was unbeaten on 19. Stoneman and Root were involved in a 88 run partnership for the second wicket. England were all out for only 58 in their first innings and are now trailing by 237 runs.

New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult, who had taken six wickets in England’s first innings, took 2/24 in 13.5 overs in their second innings. Neil Wagner took 1/32.

Earlier, New Zealand had declared their first innings at 427/8 in 141 overs on March 25 with Captain Kane Williamson scoring 102 in 220 balls with 11 fours and six, his 18th test century, while Henry Nicholls remained unbeaten on 145 in 268 balls with 18 fours. Wicketkeeper W J Watling made 31 in 65 balls with 5 fours while all rounder Colin de Grandhomme made 29 in 39 balls with 5 fours and a six. Fast bowler Tim Southee made 25 in 42 balls with 2 fours. For England, James Anderson and Stuart Broad took three wickets each. Craigh Overton and Root took oe wicket each.
