Ara : Passengers of 54273 Ara-Sasaram Passenger train had a narrow escape on June 14, 2019, morning when the engine and a bogie of the train derailed at Ara railway station. The railway employees put the engine and the bogie back on rail track after much efforts and the train resumed its journey restored after three hours. Irresponsibility of the train driver is said to be the cause behind the incident.
The 54273 Ara-Sasaram passenger train started from platform No 3 at Ara railway station around 2.50 am but after covering some distance, engine and a bogie of the train derailed. On getting information, the railways officials rushed to the spot.
Station Manager, Ara railway station, B K Pandey held the driver of the train responsible for the incident saying he started the train towards Sasaram without green signal that caused derailment of the train though no one was injured in the incident. He said that the engine and the bogie were put back on the track and movement of the train on the route was restored after three hours. He added that the departmental proceeding would be started against the train driver.
Passengers Chhathu Gupta, Sanjay Kumar, and Manju Devi said that they felt a strong jerk and were frightened. Initially, they could not know what had happened. The train stopped with a jerk and passengers got down from the train in haste and then found that the engine and the bogie of the train had derailed.
