Patna: With opener Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales hitting centuries and captain Eoin Morgan and Jason Roy hitting 67 and 82 respectively, England set an ODI record by scoring 481/6 in 50 overs in the 3rd ODI against Australia at Trent Bridge, Notingham, UK, on June 19, 2018. In reply, Australia were 143/3 after 20 overs with Marcus Stoinis batting on 25 and Aaron Finch batting on 14. Australia opener Travis Head made  51 in 39 ball with  7 fours.

Asked to bat first by Australia who won the toss, England openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow laid a solid foundation for the team forging a partnership of 159 rin for the first wicket in 19.3 overs. Roy hit 7 fours and 4 sixes in his 61 ball 82 and was run out. Bairstow hit 15 fours and 5 sixes in his 92 ball 139 . Bairstow fell to spinner Ashton Agar when the score was 310. Alex Hales hit 16 fours and 5 sixes in his 92 ball 147, his 6th ODI century. Hales fell to fast bowler Jhye Richardson when the score was 459.

Morgan hit 3 fours and 6 sixes in his 30 ball 67. Morgan also fell to Jhye Richardson, who also took the wicket of wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. Buttler was out for 11. Moeen Ali was run out for 11. Joe Root remained unbeaten on 4.

England, who lead the 5 match ODI series 2-0, had scored 444/3 against Pakistan in 2016 on the same ground.
