Eng beat WI by 232 runs in 3rd test, WI win series 2-1

Patna : England defeated West Indies (WI) by 232 runs in the third test at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, on the 4th day of the match on February 12, 2019. But, West Indies clinched the three-test series 2-1 having won the first two tests easily. England fast bowler Mark Wood was named Player of the Match while West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach was named Player of the Series.

Chasing a target of 485 runs, West Indies were all out for 252 with Roston Chase, 26, scoring an unbeaten 102 in 191 balls with 12 fours and a six, his 5th test ton, and fast bowler Alzarri Joseph scoring 34 in 30 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Fast bowler Kemar Roach scored 29 in 43 balls with 5 fours while wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich scored 19. Openers Kraigg Brathwaite, Captain, and John Campbell fell to James Anderson for 8 and zero respectively. Shai Hope fell to Mark Wood for 14 while Darren Bravo fell to Anderson for zero. Shimron Hetmyer was run out for 19. Keemo Paul fell to  Ben Stokes for 12.

For England, James Anderson and spinner Moeen Ali took three wickets each while Ben Stokes took two wickets. Mark Wood, who had taken 5 wickets in West Indies first innings, took one wicket in the second innings. Moeen Ali took 7 wickets in the match having taken 4 wickets in the WI first innings.

England had scored 277 runs in their first innings and declared their second innings at 361/5 with captain Joe Root scoring 122, his 16th test ton. West Indies had scored 154 in their first innings.
