Patna : England entered the quarter-finals (QF) of FIFA World Cup 2018 defeating Colombia 4-3 in penalty shootout taken after the match remained 1-1 even after 122 minutes. England Striker Harry Kane had scored goal in the 57th minute through penalty but Colombia Defender Yerry Mina scored in the 93rd minute to make it 1-1 at Spartak Stadium, Russia.

Colombia Striker Radamel Falcao scored the first goal in penalty shootout. England striker Kane made it 1-1. Colombia Striker Juan Cuadrado scored the second goal but England’s Marcus Rashford made it 2-2. Colobia’s Luis Muriel scored third goal for his country. England Midfielder Kieran Trippier made it 3-3. Thereafter, Colombia’s Carlos Bacca missed a penalty. But, England’s Eric Dier scored goal making it 4-3.

England have reached the QF for the first time since 2006. England had won the World Cup in 1966. They had also reached QF in 1954, 1962, 1970, 1986, 2002 and 2006 and semi-finals in 1990.
