Patna : England beat Australia by 3 wickets in the first ODI at Kennington Oval, London, on June 13, 2018, night, riding on 69 with 11 fours by capain Eoin Morgan and 50 by Joe Root. David Willey remained unbeaten on 35 in 41 ball with with 5 fours and a six while Liam Plunkett was batting on 3. England scored 218/7 in 44 overs. Electing to bat after winning the toos, Australia were all out for 214 in 47 overs. 

England had lost their first three wickets for just 38 runs. But, captain Eoin Morgan and Joe Root steadied the innings with a 115 run stand for the fourth wicket. Morgan fell to Andrew Tye after scoring 69 in 74 ball when the score was 153. Root fell to fast bowler Billy Stanlake after scoring 50 when the score was 163. Wicketkeeper Joss Buttler made 9 while Jonny Bairstow scored 28 runs. Moeen Ali made 17.

For Australia, fast bowlers Billy Stanlake, Andrew Tye, and Michael Neser, 19, took 2 wickets each while Kane Richardson took one wicket.

Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, Australia were all out for 214 in 47 overs riding on a 64 ball 60 by Glen Maxwell and 40 in 62 ball with 4 fours by spinner Ashton Agar. Shaun Marsh made 24 while Marcus Stoinis made 22. Captain TIm Paine made 12 while Tye made 19.

For England, spinner Moeen Ali and fast bowler Liam Punkett took 3 wickets while spiner Adil Rashid took two wickets. Mark Wood and David Willey took one wicket each.
