Patna : England were all out for 268 in 49.5 overs in the first ODI against India at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, UK, on July 12, 2018, night, riding on a 103 ball 50 with 2 fours by allrounder Ben Stokes and 51 ball 53 with 5 fours by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. India won the toss but opted to bowl.

Openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow scored 38 each and were involved in a 73 run partnership for the first wicket giving a solid start to England. But, wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav in a sensational bowling display, took 6/25 in 10 overs to check the run rate. Pacer Umesh Yadav took 2/70 in 9.5 overs while wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took 1/51 in 10 overs. Liam Plunkett was run out for 2.

India were 16/0 in 2 overs with Shikhar Dhawan batting on 13 and Rohit Sharma batting on 3.
