Patna : England were 289/7 in 94 overs in their first innings in the second test against Pakistan at Headingley, Leeds, at stumps on day 2 on June 2, 2018, a lead of 115 runs on first innings. Pakistan were all out for 174 in 48.1 overs on day 1. Joss Buttler was unbeaten on 34 hitting 4 fours while allrounder Sam Currem was batting on 3. Pakistan had won the first test by 9 wickets.

Resuming at their overnight score of 106/2, England lost their third wicket at 138 when captain Joe Root fell to fast bowler Mohammad Amir for 45 in 72 ball with 6 fours. But, then Dominic Bess also known as Dom Bess and Dawid Malan were involved in a 62 run partnership for the 4th wicket. Malan fell to Amir after scoring 28 in 71 ball with 5 fours when the score was 200.

Bess fell to spinner Shadab Khan after scoring 49 in 95 ball with 7 fours. Wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow fell to allrounder Faheem Ashraf after scoring 21 in 48 ball with 4 fours. The 6th England wicket fell 260 and the 7th on 285 when Chris Woakes fell to fast bowler Mohammad Abbas after scoring 17 hitting 3 fours.
