Patna : Set a target of 521 runs to win the third test, England were 23/0 at stumps on day three of the match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, UK, on August 20, 2018, with openers Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings batting on 9 and 13 runs respectively. England need to score 498 runs more to win the test with two days still left.

Earlier, India declared their second innings at 352/7 in 110 overs with captain Virat Kohli scoring 103, his 23rd test century, Cheteswar Pujara 72, and allrounder Hardik Pandya an unbeaten 52 in 52 ball, his 4th test fifty. Pandya hit 7 fours and six in his innings. Ajinkya Rahane was out for 29 while wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant made 1. Mohd Shami was out for 3.

For England, spinner Adil Rashid took 3/101 while allrounder Ben Stokes took 2/68. James Ander and Chris Woakes took one wicket each.
