Ara : Bhojpur district administration on February 14 launched an anti – encroachment drive at Babura Bazaar under Barahara police station to facilitate construction of an approach road to Ara-Chhapra bridge over river Ganga.
Ara Sadar SDO Navdeep Shukla along with posse of police force and other officials of Bhojpur district removed encroachments from the Babura Bazaar around 400 metre of the approach road to Ara-Chhapra bridge. At least two dozen shops and houses were demolished.
The SDO said that some persons had constructed their pucca houses and shops on the government land and were reluctant to shift from there despite several request. He said that Ara-Chhapra river bridge has to be commissioned in the month of June 2017 but these illegal constructions were a big hurdle in completion of the bridge. He said that the district administration had warned these illegal occupants and asked to leave the place but they did not comply with the order of the district administration and so force was used. He said now an approach roads will he constructed to Ara-Chhapra bridge.
