New Delhi : A two-day National Workshop ‘Chintan Shivir’ organized by Department of School education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) concluded in New Delhi on November 7, 2017. Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar was the chief guest on the occasion. Upendra Kushwaha, MoS, Department of School Education & Literacy, and Satyapal Singh, MoS, Department of Higher Education were present on the occasion.
HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, who was an active participant on both the days, termed the workshop a huge success. Javadekar, in his concluding remarks, said that the ‘desire among the participants to do something for the country’ was the best thing about this workshop. The Minister said that the people are contributing on all aspects of Digital Education and it pleases him when he reviews the progress made. He assured the participants that the endeavor will be carried forward as education is national agenda, according to a PIB release.
The National Workshop on School Education divided the participants into five groups wherein they discussed Digital Education (Students and Teachers), Experimental Education, Life Skill Education, Physical Education and Value Education, and thereafter made presentations and recommendations to the Union HRD Minister.

LUXEMBOURG, Oct 7(Reuters) – Germany’ѕ economic model is nott broken ƅut Europe’ѕ biggest

“We can’t be satisfied with the economic developments in Germany,” hｅ told journalists ahead οf a Eurogroup meeting.

0.2% in 2024, an economy minnistry spokesperson ѕaid on Monday, cutrting the forecast from a previouѕ projection ⲟf 0.3%

Lindner ѕaid tһe government was introducing supply-sіde measures to try to

“After these reforms, Germany will have more competitiveness again,” Lindner ѕaid, adding tһаt the growth inmitiative was
jսst a first step fоr an economic turnaround, “but we have to build on it.”

Lindner said “ambition” was neeed tο keep EU public finances in order, or to
putt tһеm bacҝ in order wheгe necessary.
“I can only encourage everyone to implement structural reforms and to make unpopular decisions,” Lindner ѕaid.
“What seems to be unpopular at the moment is the willingness to take responsibility for the next generation and for the stability of the European Union as a whole.”
Lindner said һｅ coulɗ not comment on the Frenc budget plans becausde he hɑd not hаd
the chance tо talk wioth his French collleagues yet, ƅut
he ᴡould do so oon Monday evening.
“We should all realise that the credibility of public finances vis-à-vis the capital markets is not to be trifled with,”

ANGELA HARTNETT’S BEEF & VEAL MEATBALLS
Meatballs are super-quick to make for a weeknight supper and there are many ways
to serve them (see tip). The veal in these gives a lightness to
the result, but you can swap it out for all
beef, or flavourful pork mince. This is a good way to use up any day-old bread
hanging around. The recipe is easy to double up on and freeze so you have a meal for an emergency.
SERVES 4
4 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for the onion
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
400g tin chopped tomatoes
200g white bread (day old, if possible)
whole milk (enough to soak the bread)
500g beef mince
250g English veal mince
2 tbsp finely grated parmesan, plus extra to serve
4 anchovies, finely chopped
2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley
salt and freshly ground black pepper
350g dried spaghetti, to serve (optional; see tip)
1 First make a tomato sauce. In a saucepan, heat a dash of
olive oil over a medium heat, then add half the chopped onion and half the garlic,
then sauté for 10 minutes to soften. Add the tomatoes and when the liquid starts to bubble, reduce to a simmer
and leave to cook, stirring occasionally (about 20 minutes, to create a thick
sauce), while you make the meatballs.
2 In a bowl, soak the bread in the milk until soft.
In another bowl, mix the beef, veal, parmesan, anchovies, half the parsley
and the rest of the onions and garlic. Then add the soaked bread, lightly
squeezing any excess milk from it first. Mix well and season with salt and pepper.
Mould the mixture into 12-14 meatballs.
3 Put the 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a large frying pan over a
medium heat. When hot, add the meatballs, turning (for about 5 minutes) to ensure they colour all over.
If necessary, cook in batches so they are not
all squashed together, setting each batch aside on a plate while you cook the remainder.
4 To finish, remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
Pour the tomato sauce into the frying pan over a medium heat.
Put the meatballs back into the pan for a further 4-5 minutes to cook through.
Sprinkle with the remaining parsley before serving.
TIP You can serve the meatballs as they come, or on top of spaghetti.
If you would prefer the latter, cook the pasta according to the packet instructions until al dente.
Drain it in a colander, reserving a cupful of the cooking water to loosen the meatball sauce if necessary,
and then transfer it back to the pan and toss it with a little olive oil and butter.
Put the spaghetti on a serving plate and top with the meatballs and sauce.
Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of parmesan.

There is something reassuringly robust about The Punch Bowl Inn.
Not just in the old-fashioned bar, where the Wainwright Gold
is well kept and a huge leather sofa sits before a blazing wood burner; or
in the dining room, solid and comfortable, with its old
beams, well-trodden wooden floors and tables unadorned with cloths; it’s in the
menu, too, mainly British with a Gallic burr, that makes full use of
the magnificent local Lake District larder.

way of Lewis’, is Tom’s verdict
We’re here with Peter Gott, that great Cumbrian hero, and the man behind Sillfield Farm, who
has invited me up to cook at the Westmorland County Show; also chef Phil Vickery,
who certainty knows his alliums; and the force
of nature that is Lorraine Stanton, something of a legend
around these parts. But first dinner, and a sublime twice-baked Mrs Kirkham’s
cheese soufflé, the texture as light as a sigh, the flavour profoundly, lasciviously rich.
Mrs Kirkham’s, now made by her son Graham, is one of the world’s great cheeses, and this is a soufflé
of quiet majesty. A mushroom soup is equally splendid,
managing to be both light and gutsy, while Stornoway black pudding with
bubble and squeak and a deep-fried egg is pure
Cumbrian comfort by way of Lewis.
There’s a fundamental generosity here, matched by assured technical precision. Duck
à l’orange sees a plump breast cooked rare, the skin crisp, the sauce just the
right side of bitter. It comes with a fat potato fondant
and cabbage spiked with shards of smoked bacon. I eat rump of lamb, four vast just-pink slices, drenched in the stickiest, most gloriously intense of gravies; by its side, a tiny shepherd’s pie, one bite of
pure ovine brilliance.
Puddings are every bit as fine: a lemon tart, beautifully sharp, with damson sorbet (this part of the Lake District is famed
for its damsons); along with a banana soufflé, this time the
classic version but ethereal, served with vanilla ice cream and a pot
of sticky-toffee sauce to pour deep into its molten centre.
This is good old-fashioned food, immaculately done,
in the sort of pub designed for lingering. It’s getting late now, and we’ve
an early start. But first, another bottle of wine. Dinners like this are too rare
to be rushed.

Joker: Folie À Deux — starring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix — has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history as
the film bombed at the box office on opening night.
The psychological musical thriller — which has
been criticized as ‘bleak’ and ‘disappointing’ — officially released in theaters on Friday, October 4, but it
only raked in $20 million at the domestic box office, per The Hollywood
Reporter.
Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker in the sequel,
which had earned him an Oscar for his portrayal in the 2019 film, while Gaga took on the role of
Harleen Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn).
However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been given a D
rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a comic book movie.

Weeks ago, the movie had been projected to bring in around $70 million – but the number has since drastically dropped.
Joker (2019) notably opened with $96.2 million when the film first released in theaters –
and eventually landed a little over $1 billion in the global box office.
The first movie – which was also directed by Todd Phillips – had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the budget increased for Folie À Deux to around $200 million.
The 2019 movie garnered praise and positive reviews from both critics
and audiences – and won the Golden Lion during the
76th Venice International Film Festival.
Joaquin received an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of the Joker (Arthur Fleck)
– and the film garnered an additional Academy Award
for Best Original Score.
The sequel also screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month in September,
where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per
Deadline.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds
an audience score of 31% and a critic score of 32%
However, audiences have since taken to X after
the movie released in theaters on Friday – and shared
their opinions on the sequel, which features musical sequences.
One fan penned, ‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this. what happened to the script?’ while
another added, ‘is it that bad,’ followed by a crying face emoji.
‘Ironically I feel that a musical, if done well, could have
been a good choice. It’d show how much of an unreliable narrator Fleck is,’
one typed.
‘But with some original songs, that keep everything vague, not just covers.

A social media user wrote, ‘Stop making sequels as musicals if the original wasn’t a musical.’

Most critics have said Todd failed to use Gaga correctly in the movie and claimed she was only bought in for the musical aspect of it.
While the majority of critics say Joker: Folie À Deux didn’t live up to expectations,
others have dubbed the movie ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant.’
Daily Mail’s Brian Viner commended the move as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’ but said
it lacked any thrill.
The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said: ‘Today Joker
is best remembered as one of the most subversive and original films of the last decade, while its hugely anticipated sequel is just as bleak and
formally daring as its predecessor’.
Meanwhile, the Irish Times’ Donald Clarke gave the movie just two stars but
credited Phillips’ work for making a sequel
following the first movie’s $1billion success.
Financial Times critic Danny Leigh said although Gaga worked hard to bump the ratings up in the sequel, Phillips appeared to have no idea
what to do with her.
Giving a three star rating, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw claimed the movie proves ‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive.’

SHANGHAI, Dec 6 (Reuters) – The yuan was little changed on Friday against the dollar,
but is headed for its tenth straight weekly loss amid
concerns that new tariff threatened by President-elect Donald Trump will
heighten strains on the struggling Chinese economy.
Analysts expect the dollar to remain firm as Trump’s policies are
expected to drive up U.S. inflation, but they believe Beijing will prevent the yuan from falling too much.
“We anticipate some depreciation pressure in an expected strong dollar environment,” Lynn Song, Greater China chief economist at ING, said in a note.
However, “we don’t expect an intentional large-scale depreciation and think the yuan will remain a low-volatility currency vis-à-vis most other Asian currencies.” The yuan was changing hands at 7.2549 per dollar around midday,
little moved from the previous close.
Although the currency has rebounded from a one-year low of 7.2996 hit on Tuesday, it is poised to register its longest weekly losing streak since 2018.
The dollar index fell to one-week low overnight and “the USD’s consolidation should unwind the upside pressure building” in the yuan, aided by ongoing attempts by China’s central bank
to restrain its decline, said Alvin Tan, strategist at RBC Capital
Markets.
Recent data has painted a mixed picture of China’s economic recovery, with manufacturing activities improving, but property sales in many Chinese cities remaining weak.
China’s “economic landscape is unarguably dull, and the absence of excitement is perhaps the most salient feature,” said John Browning, managing director of BANDS Financial.
He doesn’t expect huge stimulus to be announced during next week’s Central Economic
Work Conference, as “Beijing’s largesse will be reserved until after Trump is restored to the White House and the trade war formally begins.” Top policymakers will gather at the conference to agree on major economic goals for next year.
But the target for 2025 growth, one of the most closely-watched indicators globally for clues of Beijing’s near-term policy intentions,
likely will not be officially announced until an annual parliament
meeting in March. During Trump’s first term as president, the yuan weakened about 5% against the dollar after the initial round of
U.S.
tariffs on Chinese goods in 2018, and fell another 1.5% a year later when trade tensions escalated.
Growth worries and expectations of further monetary easing by
Beijing pushed China’s 10-year treasury yields below 2% to record lows this week, worsening the yield disadvantage against the U.S., and exerting downward pressure on the yuan. ING’s Song expects

While Lopez, Streep, and others were snubbed from the Golden Globes,
a slew of other stars and projects did receive nods.
Nominations for the 2025 ceremony were announced Monday morning, with Wicked
stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo both receiving nominations for their
work in the musical film.
Grande – earning her first ever Golden Globe nomination –
features in the category for Best Supporting Female Actor – Motion Picture nomination courtesy of her role as Galinda Upland in the fantasy drama.
Lopez’s performance in the sports biopic Unstoppable was ignored
Meryl Streep’s recurring role in Only Murders In The Building
didn’t earn her a Golden Globe nomination; pictured in 2023
Streep pictured with OMITB star Martin Short on season three of the show
Lady Gaga’s performance in Joker: Folie à Deux failed
to receive a nomination
The versatile star will compete alongside close friend Selena Gomez for her role in Emilia Perez and Margaret Qualley, who won universally positive reviews for body shock horror The Substance.
Isabella Rossellini also received a nomination for her role in Conclave,
as does Zoe Saldana – again, for Emilia Perez.
Elsewhere Demi Moore has been acknowledged for her
starring role alongside Qualley in The Substance, earning herself nomination for Best Female
Actor – Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy.
Also garnering a nod, Grande’s Wicked co-star Arivo has been richly rewarded for her role as green-skinned
witch-in-the-making Elphaba.
Jon M. Chu did not receive a directing nod for Wicked, however stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana
Grande both did earn nominations
Jonathan Bailey did not receive a nomination for Wicked
The box office hit Deadpool & Wolverine also failed to receive a nomination in the Best Motion Picture –
Musical or Comedy category, however it did
earn a nod for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement
Saoirse Ronan was another notable snub, failing to receive Golden Globe recognition for her films The Outrun and Blitz
Other actors failing to receive nods were Stanley Tucci of Conclave
Danielle Deadwyler did not receive a nomination for The Piano Lesson; Deadwyler pictured with co-star John David
Washington
Marianne Jean-Baptiste was overlooked for a Golden Globe nod
for Hard Truths
Nicholas Chavez, who played one of the title characters
in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,
was also snubbed out of the nominations, however his co-stars Cooper Koch (who starred as
Erik Menendez) and Javier Bardem both garnered nods
Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice performance was
also unable to cast a spell on the Golden Globe decision makers
They will face tough competition in one of the ceremony’s biggest categories, with Zendaya also named for Challengers alongside Amy
Adams for Nightbitch, Mikey Madison for Anora and Karla Sofia Gascon for Emilia Perez.
British star Eddie Redmayne was also among the early contenders after being named in the category for Best Television Actor
in a Drama Series for his starring role in Netflix hit The Day Of The Jackal.
The actor faces stiff competition from Jake Gyllenhaal for Presumed
Innocent, while Donald Glover also wins a nomination for his role in Mr.
& Mrs. Smith.
There’s another British face on the list, with Gary Oldman’s starring
role in Disney+ series Slow Horses earning him a richly deserved nomination, while Hiroyuki Sanada and Billy Bob Thornton win respective nods
for Shōgun and Landman.
British Netflix drama Baby Reindeer has also been acknowledged, with the Richard Gadd written show featuring in the category for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or
Television Motion Picture and its lead actress Jessica Gunning named as Best Supporting Female Actor – Television.
The show will compete alongside the hugely popular Ripley, controversial biopic Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story,
True Detective: Night Country, Ripley and The Penguin.
During the upcoming awards ceremony, Cheers legend Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award for those who have
“made outstanding contributions to television on or off screen” and Viola Davis
will be handed the Cecil B. DeMille Award for achievement in film.
