Motihari : With surge in  Covid- 19 cases continuing in East Champaran District  in North Bihar, DM  Shirshat  Kapil Ashok has directed the  Civil Surgeon
(CS) and health department officials to put the 6 Dedicated covid health care centres (DCHCC) on high alert  in all  six  sub-divisions of the district and asked them to ensure high risk patients are admitted to DCHCC on Motihari Sadar hospital  premises.

DM Ashok while talking to this scribe said that  there is no scarcity of oxygen in the district but the demand is also quite high. The liquid medical oxygen (LMO) is being supplied from Kolkata and Bokaro to  Gayatri Gas plant  at Harsidhi in the district and it is only refilling plant  which supplies gas cylinders  to  Government
medical college hospital  in West Champaran as well as hospitals in East Champaran. At present, two tankers  are carrying LMO.

The six DCHCCs have been set up by the district administration at Motihari, Chakiya, Areraj,, Pakaridayal, Raxaul, and Dhaka with a toyal of 545 beds including  320  beds with oxygen  cylinders.  Besides, 5 Dedicated covid hospital have been set up at Motihari sadar hospital, Rahmaniya hospital, Sharan hospital at Motihari, and Duncon and SRPN hospital centres at Raxaul  equipped with 23 ventilators and beds for serious  covid patients.

The DM said  that serious Covid patients were being sent to  Government medical college hospital at Bettiah but that too is not in position to admit  more patients now so such patients were also being treated at 5 Dedicated covid hospital centres in the district. According to official report, out of  4,315 positive covid cases 1,830  patients have been cured and returned home  in April 2021. A total of 201 patients are admitted at DCHCC , 17 have been referred to Patna and other
places and 2176  are under  home isolation.

DM  Ashok said  out of 26 containment zones in the district, 14 zones are in urban and 12 in rural areas. The DM, after reviewing  the Covid situation ,has asked the Civil Surgeon to supply  all medicine, masks, sanitizer, and other essential materials to  DCHCCs after purchasing the same  from the market. The protocol  of Covid 19 are being maintained  and people are using masks. A total of  2,62,780  persons  have  been vaccinated  against Covid-19 till  date in this district, the DM added.
