New Delhi : The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on April 27, 2018, declared final results of Civil Services Examination (CSE), 2017.

Durishetty Anudeep (Roll No. 156266) has topped the Civil Services Examination, 2017. He belongs to OBC category. He qualified the examination with Anthropology as his optional subject. He has graduated with BE (Electronics & Instrumentation) degree from BITS, Pilani.

Ms Anu Kumari (Roll No. 48547) is the topper among the female candidates securing an overall second rank. She has graduated with BSc (Hons) in Physics from Delhi University and has done MBA (Finance & Marketing) from IMT, Nagpur. The top 25 candidates comprise of 17 men and 08 women. Sachin Gupta has secured third position while Atul Prakash secured 4th position. Pratham Kaushil secured 5th rank while Koya Sree Harsha secured 6th rank. Ayush Sinha has secured 7th rank and Anubhav Singh has secured 8th rank, according to a PIB release.

Educational qualificationwise, the top 25 candidates are from Engineering, Sciences, Anthropology, Management, Law, Mathematics, Medical and Commerce background graduating from premier Institutions of the country such as IITs, NIT, NLU, BITS Pilani, NSIT, DU, Mumbai University, PEC, ICAI, Pune University, etc. Optional subjects of the top 25 candidates in the examination ranged from Anthropology, Commerce & Accountancy, Economics, Geography, Law, Maths, Physics, Political Science & International Relations, Sociology, and Malayalam Literature.

The recommended candidates also include 29 Physically Challenged persons (9 Orthopedically Handicapped, 8 Visually Challenged and 12 Hearing Impaired). Ms Saumya Sharma (Roll No. 3674), a Physically Challenged person with hearing impairment, has secured an overall ninth rank.

A total of 990 candidates (750 men and 240 women) have been recommended by the Commission for appointment to various services. Appointment to the various Services will be made according to the number of vacancies available with due consideration to the provisions contained in the Rules for the Examination.

The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2017 was conducted on June 18, 2017. Altogether  9,57,590 candidates applied for this examination of which 4,56,625 candidates actually appeared and 13,366 candidates qualified for the Written (Main) Examination held in October – November, 2017. Of them, 2,568 candidates qualified for the Personality Test conducted in February – April, 2018.

The Government had reported 180 vacancies in Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 150 in Indian Police Service (IPS), 42 in Indian Foreign Service (IFS), 565 in Central Services Group ‘A’, and 121 in Group ‘B’.

In accordance with Rule 16 (4) & (5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules 2017, the UPSC is maintaining a consolidated Reserve List of  132 candidates. Appointment to the various Services will be made according to the number of vacancies available with due consideration to the provisions contained in the Rules for the Examination.
