Chas (Jharkhand) : Keeping in mind the fact that ‘Knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom’, a five-day Literary Fest, “Glitterati” was organised at DPS Chas in Bokaro District, Jharkhand, on the virtual platform. The school conducted an array of competitions during the fest with extremely fruitful results. More than 800 students participated at different online competitions and proved their mettle. The results of the competitions were declared on July 5, 2021.
Calligraphy Competition (for Classes II to X), Extempore (for Classes VI to VIII), Creative Writing Competition (for Classes VI to XII), Debate Competition (for Classes IX to XII), and Spelling Competition for Primary Group (for Classes II to V) and Secondary group (for Classes VI to VIII) were organised under the theme World Environment Day, World Day against Child Labour, International Day of Yoga, World Music Day and International Day against Drug Abuse.
At the Extempore Competition, Rakshit Raj of Class VIII A got First Position while Raj Aryan of Class VII B and Bouddhik Goswami of Class VII A secured second and third position respectively.
At English Creative Writing Competition, Garima Mandal of Class VII B secured First position while Anvi Raj of Class VIII A and Aditi Singh of Class VI B grabbed second and third position in Category 01 (Classes VI to VIII), and Shatakshi Singh of Class XI A grabbed First Position while Mytakshara R S of IX A and Kumari Kanaklata of Class XI A secured second and third position in Category 2 (Classes IX to XII).
At Hindi Creative Writing Competition, Akanksha Sinha of Class VIII A secured First position while Shreya Kumari of Class VIII B and Rajanya Sarkar of Class VI A grabbed second and third position in Category 01 (Classes VI to VIII), and Shreya Prakash of Class XI A grabbed First Position while Shristi Singh of X B and Vikash Kumar of Class X B secured second and third position in Category 2 (Classes IX to XII).
At Debate Competition, the first position was shared jointly by Utsav Kumar Nirala of Class X A and Hemant Kumar of Class XI A while Aditya Raj Sunami of Class X B and Mohit Kalyan of Class XII C secured Second and Third position. For the Spelling and Calligraphy Competition results were declared class wise.
In her message from Delhi, Dr Hemlata S Mohan, Chief Mentor, DPS Chas, said, “Co-curricular activities are an essential part of school life and helps in enhancing learning process of students at school. These activities are truly essential because minds of students get enriched in various skills set.”
Principal P Shailaja Jayakumar said, “With the changing trends in the global educational scenario, students need to keep pace with contemporary trends in vocabulary, diction and expressions,and such competitions are always a platform wherein they display their talents.”
