Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : Bringing laurels to her alma mater as well as state of Jharkhand, Khushi Bharati, a student of  Class VIII of DPS Bokaro, won the gold medal in the Senior Group at a state level painting competition held at Ranchi, Jharkhand. She has qualified  to participate at national level painting competition to be held in New Delhi in December 2018.

With a view to sensitising school children towards energy efficiency along with energy conservation in domestic sector, the topic for  the painting competition was  ‘Save Energy’. The competition was organised by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India, in which more than five  dozen students of  several schools of all the districts of Jharkhand participated.

The competition was held in two groups – Junior Group A (class I to VI) for whom the topic was “Energy is Life– Conserve It’ while the topic for senior Group B (class VII to IX) the topic was ‘Save Energy for others’.

Four students of DPS Bokaro – Piyush of class V and Tanya Shree class V represented the school in the Junior Group while Khushi and Tanushree were Group B. Khushi has been given a certificate and a winner cheque of Rs 20,000 for emerging the winner in her group. Tanushree, another Class VIII student of DPS Bokaro, got the consolation prize in the group and received a cheque of Rs 5,000.

Director & Principal DPS, Bokaro, Dr Hemlata S Mohan has congratulated Khushi for being the state winner and hoped she will prove her mettle at the national level too.
