Bokaro (Jharkhand) : Jigyasa Jha, a student of Class XI of DPS Bokaro, Jharkhand, has been selected as one of the 150 delegates from around the world to attend the Regional Dialogue on Youth Empowerment on Climate Actions to be held virtually on February 9-10, 2021. Jigyasa is amongst the few to have been selected for the prestigious Conference from among 1,000 plus applicants.
The Regional Dialogue is co-convened by the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), Bangkok Regional Hub, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) East Asia, and the Pacific Regional Office, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Regional Collaboration Centre – Bangkok, British Council, YOUNGO, Movers Programme, and 2030 Youth Force.
The purpose of the Regional Dialogue is to enhance youth empowerment for climate actions in the lead up to the Asia-Pacific Climate Week and the COP 26 in the United Kingdom and beyond.
Principal, DPS Bokaro, A S Gangwar, congratulated Jigyasa on her feat and said it is indeed a proud moment for the school. He suggested that more students should try and participate at such conferences and events as they are eye openers and open new avenues for them.
Earlier, Jigyasha had bagged a silver medal in ‘Shaastra Juniors’ conducted by IIT Madras. Shaastra Junior conducts quiz competitions which include numerous workshops and chess competitions. She was also invited for the 2021 Harvard College Conference, which was held virtually from January 15 to 18, 2021.
