Bokaro (Jharkhand) : Harpreet Kaur, a Class VIII student of DPS Bokaro, Jharkhand, secured the First Runners Up position in the Solo Vocal Song Category at the National Level Music & Dance Competition, ‘Echoes-Naad Ninaad’ , an Inter-School competition organised by DPS, R K Puram, New Delhi.

‘Echoes-Naad-Ninaad’, a National Level Inter- School Music and Dance competition,  is an initiative by DPS R K Puram to provide young musicians a platform to explore their musical talents and capabilities.

Around 24 schools from across the country participated at the national event of Indian Vocal (Solo) competition and Harpreet Kaur presented her rendition in the Indian Classical Singing category, a solo live event. The students were instructed to perform on any ‘raag’ in ‘chhota khayal’ for two minutes. Harpreet brilliantly executed her piece and showcased her command over voice modulation, pitch, rhythm, and tone. She was adjudged first runners up on the basis of her ‘sur’, ‘laya’ and overall presentation by prolific musicians Vipasha Mishra, and Karan Wali. The two days event was organised on the virtual platform, the results of which were declared on March 20, 2021.

Expressing his happiness Principal, DPS Bokaro, A S Gangwar, said that co-curricular activities play a vital role in all round development of the children. He said that music is the soul that not only develops concentration but also rejuvenates. “More number of students must participate at such events,” Gangwar added.
