Ara : Special Task Force (STF), Bhojpur, with the help of their Delhi counterpart, arrested most wanted criminal Khurshid Quraishi in New Delhi. Khurshid Quraishi was carrying a reward Rs 50,000 on his head. Police will take Khurshid Quraishi on transit remand and bring him over to Ara. Police also arrested his associate Anwar Quraishi alias Sarala Mia, son of late Ali Jaan, from Kasai Tola under Ara Town police station in Bhojpur district.
Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar on March 22, 2019, said that Khurshid Quraishi along with his associate had killed a businessman Imran Mian at Gopali Chowk on December 6, 2018, and also killed his sister Shabnam Tara in February 2019 at Kasai Tola under Ara Town police station. Two separate FIRs were lodged withAra Town police station against nine persons. Police had arrested five persons but four of them including Khurshid Quraishi were absconding.
The SP said that he took the double murder as a challenge and formed an STF and directed it to arrest the culprits. The STF, following scientific investigation, arrested Anwar Quraishi alias Sarala Mian, one of the associates of Khurshid Quraishi, from near Ara railway station and interrogated him. During interrogation, he revealed the hideout of Khurshid Quraishi. The SP further said that the STF went to New Delhi and with the help of their counterpart there, arrested Khurshid Quraishi. He said that police will take Khurshid Quraishi on transit remand and bring him over to Ara.
The SP said that Anwar Quraishi is involved in a number of criminal cases including murder, snatching, rangdari (extortion) lodged with different police stations in Bhojpur district.
