Muzaffarpur : DM Dharmendra Singh has ordered an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the allotment of housing units under Kanti Nagar Panchayat in Muzaffarpur district.

Several local leaders including Ward Councillor Raj Kumari Devi and former Councillor and BJP leader Rajkumar Sahar alias Bhola have alleged that while Mahadalit and Dalit families are yet to get housing units, several persons having their own buildings have been allotted housing units under Kanti Nagar Panchayat. They have demanded a high level probe into the allotment of 1,561 housing units under Kanti Nagar Panchayat.

Raj Kumari Devi alleged that under Ward Number 1 of Kanti Nagar Panchayat several Mahadalit and Dalit families had been denied housing units by the officials concerned. Such families were still living in huts, she claimed. Former Councillor Rajkumar Sah requested SDO, West, Muzaffarpur, Ms Ranjita, to immediately hold an inquiry into allotment of housing units and recover funds released to those allotted such units illegally. He also requestd CM Nitish Kumar to look into the matter.

DM Dharmendra Singh said that a thorough inquiry would be held into irregularties in allotment of housing units under Kanti Nagar Panchayat and those responsible for would be punished. The DM said that he had received complaints that persons having their own pucca houses were allotted housing units and constructing their houses in other wards of the Nagar Panchayats.
