Patna : Top seed and defending champion champion Novak Djokovic, 33, Serbia, beat 4th seed & World No 4 Daniil Medvedev, 25, Russia, in straight sets in men’s singles final at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Park, Australia, on February 21, 2021, to win his 9th Australian Open (AO) singles title and 18th Grand Slam singles title overall. Rafael Nadal, 34, Spain, and Roger Federer, 39, Switzerland, have won 20 Grand Slam singles titles each.

Djokovic beat Medvedev 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 in final dashing the Russian’s hope of winning his first Grand Slam title. Djokovic won 7 break points during the match to 2 by the Russian, who recently led Russia to ATP Cup title. The Serbia, in all, won 87 points to 68 points by Medvedev. Djokovic won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by the Russian. Medvedev though fired 6 Aces in the match to 3 by the Serbian World No 1. Medvedev though also committed 4 double faults to 2 by the Serbian.
