Patna : World No 1 and top seed Novak Djokovic, Serbia, swept aside World No 44 Hubert Hurkacz, 22, Poland,  6-4, 6-2, 6-2 at Roland Garros, Paris, France, on May 27, 2019, night, to sail into the second round of French Open.

Top seed Djokovic, the 2016 French Open Champion,  broke Hurkacz’s service 6 times in the match while the latter could break his service only once. Djokovic also won 4 games in a row in the match. Hurkacz, howevdr, fired 8 Aces in the match to 6 by Djokovic, the winner of French Open title in 2016.

Stan Wawrinka, Switzerland, the 2015 French Open Champion, beat World No 132 Jozef Kovalik, 26, Slovakia, in four-sets 6-1, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 to enter the 2nd round. Wawrinka, the 24th seed and winner of 3 Grand Slam title, hammered 19 Aces in the match to just 3 by Kovalik. Wawrinka broke Kovalik’s service 5 times in the match besides winning 5 games in a row.

World No 57 Pablo Curreno Busta, 27, Spain, beat World No 70 Joao Sousa, Portugal, 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 to enter the 2md round. Busta fired 9 Aces in the match to 4 by Sousa. Busta broke Sousa’s service 6 times in the match besides winning 5 games in a row.

World No 15 Borna Coric, 22, Croatia, also entered the 2nd round defeating World No 95 Aljaz Bedene, 29,  Slovenia, 6-1, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round.
