Djokovic, Tsitsipas & Dimitrov enter 2nd round of AO 2020

Patna : Seven time champion and World No 2 Novak Djokovic, Serbia, World No 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 21, Greece, and World No 20 Grigor Dimitrov, 28, Bulgaria, advanced to the 2nd round of Australian Open (AO) 2020, the first Grand Slam of the year,  at Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on January 20, 2020.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic, 32, beat World No 37 Jan-Lennard Struff, 29, Germany, in four-sets in first round at Rod Laver Arena. Djokovic beat Struff  7-6, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 in 2 hr 16 minutes. Djokovic hit 44 winners in the match to win the 900th tour level match.in his career. Second seed Djokovic hammered 14 Aces in the match to 13 by Struff. The German committed 7 double faults to 3 by the Serbian. Djokoviv won 7 break points in the match to 4 by Struff. Both the players won 4 games each in a row in the match.

Sixth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas beat World No 95, Salvatore Caruso, 27, Italy, in straight sets 6-0, 6-2, 6-3 in 1 hr 43 minutes winning 6 break points to advance to the 2nd round. Tsitsipas, the ATP Finals winner, won 7 games in a row in the match. He fired 8 Aces in the match to  2 by the Italian. He won 48 service points to 36 by Caruso.

Dimitrov, the 18th seed, beat World No 52 Juan Ignacio Londero, 26, Argentina, in four-sets 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, 6-4 in first round. The Bulgarian won 6 break points in the match to 1 by Londero. Dimitrov hammered 17 Aces in the match to 4 by Londero. The Bulgarian won 11 games in a row in the match to 3 by his opponent.
