Djokovic to play Nadal in Italian Open semi-finals

Patna : World No 18 in ATP rankings and four time champion Novak Djokovic, 30, Serbia, defeated World No 24 Kei Nishikori, 28, Japan, to enter the semi-finals of Italian Open Masters 1000 late May 18, 2018, night. Djokovic, the 11th seed, beat Nishikori 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, at Foro Italico, Rome. Djokovic will play World No 2 Rafael Nadal, 31, Spain, in the semi-finals starting at 6.30 pm on May 19, 2018.

World No 3 and defending Champion Alexandar Zverev, 21, Germany, will play World No 5 Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, in the second semi-final starting at 11.30 pm on May 19. Zverev defeated World No 10 David Goffin, the 9th seed,  in the last qu arterfinals match 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, late May 18 night.

Women’s Section : World No 1 Simona Halep, 26, Romania, will clash with World No 40 Maria Sharapova, 30, Russia, in the semi-final of Italian Women starting at 8.30 pm on centre court at Foro Italico.

In the first semi-finals starting at 3.30 pm on May 19, World No 4 Elina Svitolina, 23, Ukraine, will play World No 26 Anett Kontaveit, 22, Estonia. Kontaveit had defeated World No 2 Caroline Wozniacki, 27, Denmark, 6-3, 6-1, in the quarterfinals on May 18. Sharapova defeated World No 6 Jelena Ostapenko, 20, Latvia, in three sets 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.
