Patna : World No 1 and top seed Novak Djokovic, World No 4 Dominic Thiem, Austria, World No 5 Alexander Zverev, Germany, and World No 15 Borna Coric, Croatia, advanced to the 3rd round of French Open on May 30, 2019. World No 9 Juan Martin del Porto, Argentina, and World N0 21 Roberto Bautista Agut, Spain, have also entered the 3rd round.

Djokovic beat World No 104 Henri Laaksonen, 27, Switzerland, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 in the second round at Roland Garros, Paris, France. The Serbian broke Laaksonen’s service 6 times in the match while the latter could break his service only once. Djokovic also won 5 games in a row in the match. Laaksonen, however, fired 6 Aces in the match to 4 by Djokovic. Djokovic won 48 service points to 45 by Laaksonen.

Dominic Thiem, who had to Rafael Nadal in the French Open final in 2018, beat World No 91 Alexander Bublik, 21, Kazakhstan, in four-sets 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 in the second round. Bublik though fired 16 Aces in the match to 6 by Thiem. Thiem broke Bublik’s service 5 times in the match while the latter broke his service twice. Thiem also won 5 games in a row to 3 by Bublik.

Zverev defeated World No 148 Mikael Ymer, 20, Sweden, 6-1, 6-3, 7-6 to enter the third round. Zverev fired 12 Aces in the match to none by Ymer.  Zverev broke Ymer’s service 5 times in the match while the latter could break his service only once. The German won 7 games in a row in the match to 3 by Ymer.

Coric beat World No 90 Lloyd Harris, 22, South Africa,  6-2, 6-3, 7-6 to reach the 3rd round of the clay court event. Harris fired 7 Aces in the match to 5 by Coric. But, Coric broke Harris’ service 5 times in the match while latter could break his service only once. Coric won 5 games in a row to 3 by Harris.

Juan Martin del Porto beat World No 72 Yoshihito Nishioka, 23, Japan, in a five-set thriller 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 in the 2nd round. Delpo fired 17 Aces in the match to 6 by Nishioka. Delpo won 9 break points to 5 by Nishioka.

Agut beat World No 42 Taylor Fritz, USA, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 to enter the 3rd round. Fritz though fired 11 Aces in the match to 4 by Agut. Agut, however, broke Fritz’s service 6 times in the match while the latter could break his service only once. Agut also won 7 games in a row in the match.
