Patna : World No 1 & top seed Novak Djokovic, 34, and World No 3 & thirteen-time champion Rafael Nadal, 35, Spain, will clash in semi-finals of French Open, a Grand Slam tournament played on outdoor clay courts at Stade Roland Garros, Paris, France, on June 11, 2021. Djokovic battled past 9th seed Matteo Berrettini, 25, Italy, in four-sets in quarter-finals on June 9, 2021, late night, winning four break points and 5 games in a row to reach the semi-finals of the event.
Nadal has won 20 Grand Slam singles title while Djokovic has won 18 Grand Slam singles titles. It will be 58th meeting between the two tennis titans. Djokovic leads Nadal 29-28 Head to Head. Nadal had recently defeated Djokovic in Italian Open Final. The Spaniard had also defeated Djokovic in 2020 French Open Final. Djokovic, on the other hand, had defeated Nadal in ATP Cup Final in 2020. Nadal reached SFs defeating 10th seed Diego Scwartzman, 28, Argentina, in quarter-final on June 9, 2021.
Djokovic beat Berrettini 6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 in quarter-final. Berrettini though hammered 11 Aces in the match to 10 by the Serbian World No 1. The Italian committed 3 double faults to 1 by the Serbian. Djokovic, in all, won 153 points during the match to 123 by Berrettini. Djokovic’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 77 % & 67 %) was much better than that of Berrettini’s ( 71 % & 45 %). Djokovic now leads Berrettini 2-0 Head to Head.
