Patna : Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, has consolidated his position as the World No 1 player after winning the Australian Open (AO) singles titles getting 2,000 points. In the ATP rankings released on January 28, 2019, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, 32, Spain, remain World No 1 and World No 2 with 10,955 points and 8,320 points respectively but Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, has slipped to 6th in the ATP rankings with 4,600 points as he failed to defend 2,000 points he got after winning the AO title in 2018. Federer has dropped three places.
Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, who lost in the 4th round of AO 2019, is the new World No 3 with 6,475 points while Juan Martin del Porto, 30, is World No 4 with 5,060 points. Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, is World No 5 with 4,845 points. Kei Nishikori, 29, Japan, who reached the QFs of AO 2019, is World No 7 with 4,110 points while Dominic Thiem, 25, Austria, is World No 8 with 3,960 points. John Isner, 33, USA, is World No 9 with 3,155 points. Marin Cilic, 30, Croatia, who had reached the AO final in 2018 but lost in the 4th round in 2019, is World No 10 with 3,140 points slipping three places.
Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Greece, who reached the SFs of AO 2019, has jumped two places to be ranked World No 12 with 2,805 points while Milos Raonic, 28, Canada, has jumped 3 places to be ranked World No 14 with 2,250 points after reaching the QFs of AO. Daniil Medvedev, 22, Russia, has also jumped 3 places to be ranked World No 16 with 2,000 points after reaching 4th round of AO.
Lucas Pouille, 24, France, who lost to Djokovic in the SFs of AO 2019, has jumped 14 places to be ranked World No 17 with 1,955 points. Roberto Bautista Agut, 30, Spain, has jumped 6 places to be ranked World No 18 with 1,955 points after reaching QFs of AO.
Kyle Edmund, 24, UK, has dropped 15 places to be ranked World No 29 with 1,440 points. Edmund had reached SFs of AO in 2018. Frances Tiafoe, 21, USA, has jumped 9 places to be ranked World No 30 with 1,430 points after reaching QFs of AO 2019. Hyeon Chung, 22, South Korea, has slipped 25 places to be ranked World No 50 with 910 points. Chung had reached SFs of AO 2018. Nick Kyrgios, 24, Australia, has dropped 15 places to be ranked World No 67 with 750 points. Former Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych, 33, Czech Republic, has dropped 22 places to be ranked World No 79 with 685 points though he had reached 4th round of AO 2019.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran, 29, India, has jumped 7 places to be ranked World No 102 with 550 points after qualifying for the AO though losing in the 1st round. Ramkumar Ramnathan, 24, India, has slipped two places to be ranked World No 133 with 425 points. Yuki Bhambri, 26, India, has dropped 13 places to be ranked World No 151 with 365 points. Saketh Myneni, 31, India, has dropped 4 places to be ranked World No 260 with 178 points. Sasi Kumar Mukund, 22, India, is World No 292 with 133 points. Sumit Nagal, 21, India, is World No 349 with 62 points.
